At a month old, Baby Finn wasn't the typical sleepy newborn, which made for the perfect lifestyle session. Mom and Dad are so in love with this little guy and this type of session is the perfect way to showcase that! I love that we were able to include the traditional Hungarian floral felt heart for his daddy's heritage and the work hat of his mommy's dad who passed away a few years ago.

Newborn sessions are some of my most favorite sessions. There is nothing sweeter than new baby snuggles. Little Gavin was just the best little model and you would never know his momma and dad were first time parents. They make the perfect little family.

She's fiercely independent but loves to hold my hand. Intensely stubborn but wears her heart on her sleeve. She's rough-and-tumble with her dad but will cuddle a kitten for hours. She was a long-time coming but well worth the wait. Today's kindergarten graduation was the first of many times I know I will feel that little "pang" in my heart. Slow down, sweet girl.

There is nothing more peaceful than watching a new mom and dad snuggling their new baby, just breathing in the moment, staring at him for hours, memorizing every little detail. Watching Sarah and John with their new little guy was amazingly beautiful.

The Malizia family is now a party of 5! The 2 older kiddos are smitten with their baby brother and mom and dad look amazingly refreshed for parents with 3 kids under 4 years old! Love this family. I look forward to their annual trip down south every winter!

From the minute this family walked up to me at Dubois Park, I was smitten. Five kids under the age of 7 would frazzle any good parent, but Mom and Dad G were the MOST laid back parents and each of those beautiful kids were amazing! They each patiently waited their turn in front of the camera, did exactly what I asked them to and smiled the entire hour session. I was blown away at how sweet and easy this family was. They were a true blessing to spend time with.

As a photographer, I know how hard it is to actually step out from behind the camera and actually get INTO our pictures with our kids. But a photographer friend of mine (www.JamieHinklePhotography.zenfolio.com) and I decided to change that!

Jamie and her 2 beautiful girls met up with me and my youngest for a whirlwind session, complete with cupcakes, donuts and the gorgeous FL setting sun! It was a bit of a crazy session as we rushed back and forth, trying to make sure we were both able to capture the coveted "golden hour" light! But after the sun set, we knew we captured some amazing images with our girls that we would cherish forever!

This beautiful family was the winner of the mini-session giveaway we had last Christmas. The timing couldn't have been better as baby number 2 was on his way! And even though the new little man wasn't too keen on having a photo session, his big brother was awesome! So full of personality! Congrats, A Family, for winning this session, but even more so for the new addition to your beautiful family!

I love it when a plan comes together! Superhero A is turning 4 and mom had a GREAT idea to incorporate his love of all things SUPERHERO into a fun session! He is absolutely the PERFECT model and was so willing to do everything I asked of him. Although if you asked him, the posed pictures weren't nearly as much fun as the running. and the jumping. and the FLYING! OH, the FLYING!! Up, UP and AWAY!!!

I am so excited to get to share images from one of my favorite weddings. Ever. I know, I am a bit biased. After all, the groom was my baby brother and the last of the 4 siblings to get hitched. But this seriously was a wedding for the books. Starting with the fact that they only had a month and a half to plan the wedding so they could make sure that all of the bride's siblings, one of whom was moving overseas, could be there. Oh, and did I mention that the bride has a killer-awesome brand new job, so most of the planning was done by the groom? And let's not forget the moment a week before the wedding when the weather forecast for a drought-ridden CA showed 100% chance of rain the weekend of the wedding...and the barn venue was not waterproof, so a quick venue change was in order.

But none of that seemed to matter to this laid-back couple. Rehearsal Friday was a soggy day, but by wedding Saturday, the skies were blue and slightly overcast, making for beautiful images. I don't normally shoot weddings, and with a 3-year-old flower girl to help get down the aisle, I got to enjoy the wedding as the "sister-of-the-groom with a camera"! I can't wait to see Florin Design Photography's photos! He did an awesome job!

The bride was stunning and the first look was awesome. It was if it was just the 2 of them and there were no cameras clicking away. I love how they are so in love with each other.

Rumor has it the groom gave the bride these socks for Christmas so she wouldn't get cold feet. She didn't!

East Coast Sunrise

Even though we live just minutes from the beach, my mornings are usually reserved for rushing kids out the door for school and, on the very rare occasion, "sleeping in" (if you can describe sleeping in as being tapped awake at 7:00 by a 3-year-old). But last week, that same 3-year-old and I made it out the door and to beach in time to catch one of the reasons people come to FL in the winter....the beautiful, peaceful sunrise over the gently rolling waves. What a view!

Welcome to my first blog post. ever. I'm not a writer and will never claim to be. I know where my talents lie and where they do not. That being said, I'm so excited to be able to write this post announcing my new website for Leah Hartman Photography.

2013 was a great year for me! Launching my own business was not something that was ever on my bucket list, but I'm so glad I listened to some of my biggest fans and went for it! So many friends had encouraged my through the years, but it was my sister and my hubby who really pushed me. I'm so grateful that they did because since then, I have met so many great friends and clients! What a fun job I have!
